Two-pole wiring to the window regulator
Power window connections on the window controls plug

The window motor can be temporarily powered by directly applying 12V to the door wiring loom. This can be useful if eg:

  • The window control buttons are not working
  • The window control panel has been removed
  • The door has already been removed from a vehicle and hence there is no power
  • The window motor needs to be tested independently of other variables

There are two convenient locations:

  1. If the door-trim has already been removed, disconnect the two-pin plug that directly feeds the window motor.
  2. If the door-trim is still in place, remove the window control panel and use the white plug at back of the panel

Connect (preferably via a fuse) 12v positive and negative to power the window. Reverse the connections to reverse the window direction.

If you need to do this “often”, consider making a pre-made custom cable using a spare connector.
